Niederkirchen is beautifully situated between forests and vineyards
Starting with the historic crossing tower, which you can view from the upper windows, to the Wachtenburg Castle with a restaurant in it, to the ruins of Roman villas, there is much to discover in the area. Of course there are also the famous wine villages like Deidesheim, Forst, Wachenheim and Bad Dürkheim, which are right next door and attract with their half-timbered houses, the great wine restaurants and bars and small streets. Throughout the summer there are wine festivals all around, where winegrowers open the doors to their holy chambers of winemaking and the villages celebrate!
There are surrounding biking and hiking trails for all levels of difficulty. On a racing bike you can go as far as Speyer, and for mountain bikers the Haardt offers a number of trails and terrains. The great thing is that almost everywhere you will find a hut with "Weck und Woi" (bread and wine) waiting for you!
The kids will certainly not be bored, the Holliday Park in Hassloch, the Kurpfalzpark in Wachenheim, the swimming pools and many castle ruins provide enough variety. Between forests and vineyards it is good to live!
By bike or car you can reach the surrounding places and sights worth seeing like Deidesheim, Forst, Wachenheim, Bad Dürkheim, the Haardt, castles and Roman ruins and everything along the Deutsche Weinstraße in no time! We recommend a look at the hiking and biking app Komoot, where you should find a nice route for every level of difficulty.
Shopping and dining out
In Niederkirchen you will find several wineries within walking distance, which invite you to linger in their courtyards. Our recommendation: Weingut Seckinger! Also, our favorite restaurant is just around the corner: the Klosterstübchen. After the wine tasting, you can comfortably walk home. The surrounding towns such as Forst and Deidesheim also offer you a great culinary offer in all price categories.
Shopping facilities such as Wasgau or Rewe can be found in the neighboring towns of Deidesheim and Wachenheim. Neustadt an der Weinstraße is also only a few minutes away by car and has several well-known supermarkets and shopping opportunities.
